Steelcase Gesture

A proper desk chair, with arms that move where you need them and a back that moves with you.

Maker: steelcase.com

What I use it for
  • Working at the desk
  • Moving between keyboard, mouse and phone
  • Leaning back to read or think
Arms
360-degree adjustment for different working positions
Back
3D LiveBack follows changes in posture
Seat
Adjustable height and depth, with flexible edges
Recline
Adjustable tension, three recline stops and an upright back lock

The chair belongs in a desk setup just as much as the keyboard and mouse. Screens get most of the attention, but the thing underneath you deserves some thought too.

The Steelcase Gesture’s arms move through a wide range, so the support can follow your elbows from the keyboard to the mouse or a phone. Small adjustments, but useful ones.

The back flexes as you change position, and the seat height, depth and recline controls sit on the right. There is enough adjustment to set the chair around the desk instead of arranging everything around a fixed seat.

No app, no charging cable. Just a piece of the desk setup that has a very clear job.
